What would you do if you had to hunt down and kill your future self?
This is the question asked in Rian Johnson’s new film Looper. Set in the near future, Looper is the story of up-and-coming mob hitman Joe, played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who takes out marks sent 30 years back in time by his future bosses. Joe hesitates on a job when he recognizes his mark as his future self, played by Bruce Willis.
Looper is Rian Johnson’s third film and reunites him with Gordon-Levitt who appeared in the acclaimed film Brick, Johnson’s directorial début. Interestingly, this also reunites Gordon-Levitt with Jeff Daniels, who played Gordon-Levitt’s guardian in the The Lookout.
The trailer for Looper premiers on Thursday April 12, 2012 on iTunes (of course) as well as Cabin in the Woods, which opens Friday April 13. In the mean time a short teaser (a trailer for a trailer?) was released today.
